Mrs. Mellott Retiring After 31 Years at CCS
Mrs. Mellott Retiring After 31 Years at CCS

Mrs. Vonda Mellott has been teaching for 36 years. 31 of which at CCS in several positions, her longest being Kindergarten. In her free time, besides being Grandma to her six grandchildren, she spends time on teaching blogs learning new ideas and drawing inspiration. Her plans after retirement include travel plans and relaxation.

We asked her for some words of wisdom to her teaching peers. She said: "Don't give up. Don't get discouraged. Praise, praise, praise, correct, praise, praise - sandwich correction with a lot of praise and love. A special little pet name goes a long way. I have kids that have graduated who will still say, 'you didn't call me cupcake!' or 'you didn't call me lovebug!' Have faith in the kids!"

On Wednesday, May 24, we had the opportunity to surprise and honor Mrs. Mellott with a special assembly surrounded by current and former students, friends, family, colleagues, our Superintendent Todd Jacobs and senior Pastor Rick Cole. A video the assembly can be viewed on our school's Facebook page: facebook.com/ccscougs.

Check out a fun video of many of her current and former students sharing some words of gratitude:
