High school student activities help students develop leadership skills and strengthen personal character and integrity.
STUDENT COUNCIL:
Student Council at Capital Christian High School is a group of students elected by the student body to offices and committees. These students are led by the Student Activity Director in an advisory capacity. They are guided by their constitution and by the CCHS Student Handbook as far as their duties and responsibilities. They meet every school day in a class period for a Leadership Training class. It is during that time that they plan for the activities and community service projects that they sponsor each year.
SHIRTS:
Student Council is responsible to design and sell the class shirts as well as Cougar Wear. This is designed and ordered during class time. The items are then sold from the Student Store.
RALLIES:
Student Council is responsible to put on rallies each month to encourage school spirit and support the athletic teams. They also put on a rally for the Elementary School each year. Council also has one week each semester when they present a Spirit Week where students dress to a theme each day and special activities are planned for lunch time incorporating that day’s theme.
NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION AND SYATP:
The council starts the year by facilitating New Student Orientation where they talk about the school and give guided tours to the new students and their parents. That is closely followed by “See You at the Pole” (SYATP) which is a nationally sponsored prayer service around the flagpole before school.
HOMECOMING:

Student Council leads with Spirit Week with lunchtime activities, Homecoming Royalty elections and crowning, Powder Puff Football and cheer, float-building, float and royalty parade, and the Homecoming banquet.
COMMUNITY SERVICE:
In November, Council sponsors a canned food drive for the needy that lasts a week and in December they lead a project for the underprivileged called Christmas Convoy. During this time the school brings toys and clothing for families that are wrapped and presented along with food and gift certificates and a Bible. We also sponsor a blood drive every year and the students and faculty give blood to a blood bank.
WINTER COURT:
Spring semester starts with a week of activities for Winter Court and ends with Winter Banquet. This event traditionally showcases CCHS student talent with a talent competition. After that, Council plans and presents Sadie Hawkins which is a time for the girl to ask a boy to an event.
COUGAR OLYMPICS:
Cougar Olympics comes after Sadie Hawkins. This is a rally-type event held at the football stadium. It begins with a barbeque and continues with rally games. Students are out of class for half day to participate in these games.
JSB:
The showcase event comes in May when the Junior members of Council give Junior-Senior Banquet. It is the most formal event of the school year and is always held off-campus.
ELECTIONS:
The school year ends with Student Council elections when the new members come in to get a head start on the year ahead.
